And the winner is.....

Our December pack meeting rolled around and everyone was excited for one thing....the Pie the Cubmaster in the face contest.
First we had our own Den 2 put on a cute skit for us.
Even the Cubmaster participated in the skit.
And then it was time....names were drawn and positions were decided...
He even gave some last minute instructions...(or maybe he was begging for mercy)
The first pie was thrown...and it was on!
Some kids had great aim...
Others...not so much....
But all in all...it was great fun!
Ouch!!
This guy took him out...
But he was OK...
Even his own son had no mercy....
Thank you for all of your hard work selling popcorn this year!

Our first tree at Cosley Zoo...

We were excited to participate in our first ever Cosley Zoo Tree Decorating to benefit the zoo.

All of the dens that participated came on the second decorating day...when we had lots of snow!
Of course it made the zoo look beautiful and very festive.
And the trees made the air smell so good...just like Christmas!
The boys were excited to find their tree. (It's the first one on the left as you enter the zoo for anyone wanting to check it out)
Everyone took turns putting on the ornaments. Den 4 made a nice garland from cranberries and pasta. Den 2 made pretty wreaths and Den 1 made yummy looking pinecones covered in bird friendly ingredients.
We had to give our tree a shake as it was covered in snow.
If was fun watching the boys put their ornaments on the tree.
We rounded up as many as we could for a group picture. The snow was so much fun.
The only thing we forgot was a topper but we plan to return soon to top our tree.
Of course a few snowball fights broke out. Get him boys!!
And then there was this one...
At first I wasn't sure it would be a fair fight...
But in the end...I think Ella took em!!
Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in this event. We made a donation to Cosley in order to decorate the tree so it was a great project.

A caroling we will go...

Time again for my favorite community service event of the year...
CHRISTMAS CAROLING
This year the coordinator at Wyndmere called us to make sure we were coming.
It seems that our caroling is the highlight of the year for the residents of the assisted living facility.
I think this is a wonderful opportunity for our Cub Scouts to enrich the lives of the elderly.
We had a great turnout and I am happy to say that the sing along music went well.
It was great to see the audience participating as well.
A special gentleman was present at this year's event. Bud Brewster has been our Kiwanis contact for years now. He has moved to the assisted living for help while he fights a battle with cancer. Please keep him in your thoughts during this difficult time.
One of the highlights of the event is always Truman and his dance moves. He likes to act out the various songs and the residents just love him!!
I was very impressed to see a few young men out in the crowd taking some time to really visit with the residents.
These boys were enjoying the treats provided by the facility.
A big Thanks to everyone who came out and made this event such a great success! They have asked us back in the spring for a sing a long then. Maybe we can pull something together for a nice spring event.

A time to give Thanks!

Our Thanksgiving Pack Meeting centered around giving Thanks.
This meeting was hosted by Den 5. We did a food drive, which I am sure was much appreciated during these difficult holiday times. The boys also wrote letters to the soldiers that were forwarded on to brighten the day of someone far from their own family during the holidays.
The project was to build a turkey out of the items in the bag.
This is one of my favorite types of activities. The kids get so creative!
It's really cool to see all the different turkey styles.
I love this face!!
And this guy...he was the only one from his den to attend so he built a turkey on his own.Let the turkey judging begin....Den 1
Den 2 had an interesting bird.
And you have to love this one from Den 3...
Den 4 came up with this offering...
And this scary turkey from den 5...
We also took a moment to honor the boys who earned their bobcat badge...
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
